The Art of Public Speaking was co-authored by J. Berg Esenwein and Dale Carnagey, later Dale Carnegie. The text is a practical manual on voice, confidence, delivery, gesture, persuasion, audience control, and speech construction, combining Esenwein’s editorial and instructional experience with Carnagey’s early teaching of public speaking. Dale Carnegie was born Dale Carnagey in 1888 and used the original spelling of his name for his first publications. By 1922, he had changed the spelling to Carnegie, a clearer and more memorable form that echoed the famous Carnegie name.
