Sixteenmo, 230pp, [4]. Blue cloth binding, title stamped in gilt. Modern Library No. 155. The copyright page states “First Modern Library Edition.” Light toning along the spine. In the publisher’s very good dust jacket, chip along back panel, light soiling to spine, a very good example.
First published by Albert & Charles Boni in 1926, The Cabala was Wilder’s first novel, inspired by his time at the American Academy in Rome. The Modern Library selected the book as No. 155 in the series and published this edition in May 1929, following the success of Wilder’s The Bridge of San Luis Rey.
