John Seigenthaler (1927-2014) served as a special assistant to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and later figured in the publication dispute over William Manchester’s The Death of a President, where he was among the Kennedy representatives who reviewed the manuscript and communicated edits to Manchester. Seigenthaler was the editor, publisher, and chairman of The Tennessean newspaper and the editorial director of USA Today.
