Octavo. 61pp, [3]. Full red cloth, title in gilt over black stamped illustration. Solid text block, internally clean. Includes the scarce glassine dust jacket. In the publisher’s matching slipcase, touch of wear along margins, with the title in black on paper label affixed to front panel. Complete with five full-page black-and-white illustrations by Harold Denison.
Signed by the author and the illustrator on the limitation page. From a run of 700 copies, this being number 683. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: “For my friend George Matthew Adams / from his friend / Marston Elliott Drake / May 20 / 37.”
This copy belonged to George Matthew Adams (1878-1962), an American newspaper columnist, author, publisher, and founder of the George Matthew Adams Newspaper Service in 1907.
