Senator Bob Dole (1923 – 2021) was an American politician, attorney, and World War II veteran who served as a U.S. Representative from Kansas from 1961 to 1969 and as a U.S. Senator from 1969 until 1996, including terms as Senate Majority Leader and Minority Leader (1987-1995). Dole was the Republican vice-presidential nominee in 1976 and the presidential nominee in 1996, losing both elections.
