Folio, 160pp. Quarter brown morocco, brown buckram cloth, title printed in green on the spine. Stated “First Printing” on the copyright page. Complete with 50 color plates, individually numbered, each featuring a painting from the Eisenhower collection. In the publisher’s dust jacket, partially price clipped, light shelf wear, closed tear along spine panel, bright illustrations. This work was also produced in a limited edition of 1500 copies bound in leather to benefit Eisenhower College in New York.
This presentation copy was issued to former Ambassador Thomas C. Mann and signed by First Lady Mamie Doud Eisenhower, and her nephew, Michael Doud Gill.
The only known copy of this work signed by First Lady Mamie Eisenhower.
Thomas C. Mann (1912-1999) was Latin America specialist who served in the Eisenhower administration, first as Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs (1957-1960) and then as Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs (1960-1961). In the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations, Mann served as Ambassador to Mexico (1961-1963) and later as Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs (1965 -1966).
