Judge Harry W. Wellford (1924-2021) was a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit from 1982-2021, appointed by President Ronald Reagan. While the movie was filming in 1993 in Memphis, Judge Wellford and his cousin, Alex Wellford, the head of the Memphis Bar Association, were invited to consult on the movie and made brief appearances in the film.
