Octavo, [6], 619pp. [1]. Publisher’s gray cloth covers, end papers illustrated with “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Stated “First Published in April 1939” on copyright page. Yellow top stain, light dust remnant along top edge. Faint offsetting to endpapers, which is typical with this book. Internally clean.
In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, with the “First Edition” statement along lower edge of the front flap, but price clipped. Jacket has a closed tear along the front panel, shallow chipping along top edge, light sunning to the spine, bright illustrations. Jacket free of restoration.
