This is the second state of the text, with Pages 165 and 265 in the correct places. Solid text block, light rubbing along edges, faint offsetting to endpapers, near fine. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $2.50 retail price on front flap, worn along edges. Closed tear to front panel, stabilized with previous restoration work on verso. (Miller 20b)
Includes a laid-in card signed by Graham Greene and actress Sybil Thorndike, who starred in a Broadway play by Greene.
The Labyrinthine Ways was published in the UK as “The Power and The Glory”. Graham Greene (1904-1991) was an English writer. He wrote serious Catholic novels and, as he called them, “entertainments” (thrillers) like Brighton Rock. Greene was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature twenty times between 1950 and 1966, but never received the award in his career.
