Sixteenmo, [two volumes], [4], 337pp, [8pp ads]; [4], 278pp, [16pp ads]. Light brown cloth, title stamped in brown on spine and cover. Both volumes with frontispiece portrait and an advertisement for the 15 Volume Sagamore Series. Both volumes in the publisher’s dust jacket, near fine examples, with light wear to tips of the spine, advertisement for other works from G.P. Putnam’s on rear panel. Housed in the previously undocumented publisher’s box, label on side panel, slide on lid panel. Light soiling to side panels, stable binding.

The Sagamore Series of the Works of Theodore Roosevelt was published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons in 1900, at an advertised price of $0.50 for the cloth edition and $0.25 for the paper edition. The set featured Roosevelt’s major works to date, including American Ideals, The Wilderness Hunter, Hunting the Grisly, The Rough Riders, The Winning of the West, and The Naval War of 1812.
