Octavo, [1], 46pp, [2]. Brown cloth, title in black on spine, color illustration affixed to front cover. Stated “Published October 1912” on copyright page, with no additional printings. Solid text block, light rubbing to corners, top edge dyed brown, illustrated endpapers. Light soiling to spine, faint dampstain along rear panel, a very good example. Complete with six full-page color illustrations by N.C. Wyeth.

The Pike County Ballads is a compilation of six of Hay’s poems originally published in 1871, including “Jim Bludso” and “Little Breeches.” This edition features art by N.C. Wyeth, the illustrator known for his contributions to texts like Treasure Island and Robinson Crusoe.
