Twelvemo, [two volumes], xi, 275pp (Vol.1); 329pp, [3pp]. Volume I is the second state, with E.B. Clayton, Printer, the opposite of what is stated in (BAL 3829). Volume II is also printed by E.B. Clayton and the first state, with Folio 329 on the left side of the page. Errata note in Volume II. Half titles in both volumes. Contemporary calf, gilt title on spine, raised bands, contemporary marbled boards. Scattered foxing as usual, occasional spotting in both volumes. Short tear to two leaves in volume one, with no loss of text. Illustration affixed to front end paper of Volume II.

A clean and crisp copy, in well preserved contemporary binding.

Comments: This is the first edition of the authors third novel. It was issued the same month as the first (and more common) London edition.
