Description

Twelvemo, two volumes, xi, 275pp (Vol.1), 329pp, [3pp]. Contemporary calf, gilt title on spine, raised bands, contemporary marbled boards. Scattered foxing as usual, occasional spotting in both volumes. Short tear to two leaves in volume one, with no loss of text. A clean and crisp copy, in well preserved contemporary binding.
Comments: This is the first edition of the authors third novel. It was issued the same month as the first (and more common) London edition. Per (BAL 3829), Volume 1 is the first state printing and Volume 2 is also the first state printing. E.B. Clayton, Printer is noted on the title page of both volumes.
