Decorative raised bands on spine, with light sunning to spines. Housed in the publisher’s slipcase. Both volumes appear unread.
This work is from a limited edition of 1500 copies, this being numbered 425. Volume I was inscribed by the author on March 13, 2008, during a White House Historical Association seminar on the life of White House architect James Hoban, held in the Decatur House on Lafayette Square.
This set is from the private collection of Journalist and presidential historian Lawrence L. Knutson, presented to him in 2002 upon his retirement after 37 years with the Associated Press. In retirement, he authored “Away from the White House: Presidential Escapes, Retreats, and Vacations” in 2014, an in-depth history of presidential retreats.
