Light wear to gilt along the spine, faint foxing to foredge. Previous ownership inscription to front free endpaper. Closed tear to one leaf from old bookmark, at the beginning of Chapter 25. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, near fine, with $19.95 on front flap, light shelf wear to boards.
Inscribed by Pat Conroy on the half title: “To Bill + Elizabeth Boyd, Merry Christmas and all love. Pat Conroy / Dec. 25, 1986.”
Adapted into the 1991 film directed by Barbra Streisand, starring Streisand and Nick Nolte. The film received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Nolte.
