Octavo, 114pp. Auburn cloth, title stamped on spine. The first printing, with the same date on the title page and copyright page. Appears unread. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $4.75 on the front flap, bright illustrations, a fine example.
Signed and dated by the author on the half-title to Ruby Eames Daggett from the Dartmouth Bookstore, who secured Eberhart the “latest avant-garde book” while he was a student.
Inscription reads: “For Ruby Daggett / Love, Dick / at the Dartmouth Bookstore / Hanover, N.H. April 30, 1969.” Also inscribed on page 70 above the poem titled Ruby Daggett, “Ruby, I am glad you like this poem. Dick.”
The volume appeared after Eberhart’s tenure as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress and shortly before the publication of Selected Poems, 1930-1965, which received the 1966 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
