Quarto, x, [2], 365pp, [1]. Blue-gray cloth boards, gilt title on spine over blue printed label. Top edge gilt, uncut edges. Fading and discoloration to the spine. Complete with 42 black-and-white photographic plates. Clean throughout, solid binding. Includes the publisher’s slipcase, with matching limitation number on the side panel label. Wear to slipcase, rubbing and light soiling to label, stable hinges.
From a limited edition of 258 signed copies, with 250 for public sale, this being number 198 signed by Eleanor Roosevelt.

Scarce to find with the publisher’s original slipcase, only a handful of known examples still exist.
This work was part of a series of autobiographies written by Eleanor Roosevelt, which included This is My Story (1937), This I Remember (1949), On My Own (1958), and finally The Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt (1961). This work was first serialized for Ladies’ Home Journal, from May 1937 through January 1938. (Edens, B158) This book edition was published in November of 1937, and later published in England (1939), with the revised title of “The Lady of the White House.”
