Thick octavo, [two volumes], xiv, [10pp maps], 522; ix, [1], 566pp. Green cloth, title in gilt with decorative pictorial illustrations on covers. Wear at edges, with some loss of cloth at ends of spine. Frontispiece portraits in both volumes with tissue covers. Light foxing to title page of Volume II, not carrying through to text. Previous ownership inscription in Volume I, dated 1878. Large fold-out maps in rear pockets of each volume, very good condition, with light wear from folding.
