Mary Badham is best known for her portrayal of “Scout Finch” in the 1962 film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, a role that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the age of ten, making her one of the youngest nominees in Oscar history at the time. After appearing in a handful of other films and television shows in the 1960s, she retired from acting as a teenager and later worked in art restoration and college testing coordination.
