Quarto, x, [2], 551pp, [2]. Three-quarter brown morocco, marbled paper-covered boards. Decorative gilt compartments, title in gilt over morocco label affixed to spine. New endpapers. All edges uncut. Solid text block, light wear along edges of binding. Light foxing along top edge of leaves, with a faint dampstain visible intermittently throughout the first half of the piece. Complete with an engraved map and 12 engraved plates.

Sir Henry Holland (1788-1873) traveled through Europe for a year and a half after earning his medical degree. Holland practiced medicine for decades, notably as a personal physician to Queen Victoria beginning in 1852.
