The original story, “Bambi, A Life in the Woods” by Felix Salten, was published in German in 1923. This work, published in 1942, is the novelization of Walt Disney’s adaptation of Bambi. The animated feature film was released on August 9, 1942, in London, and August 13, 1942, in the United States. A novelization by Simon and Schuster was released in 1941, before the release of the film.
