The first edition, first printing of Warlock by Oakley Hall, with the publisher’s dust jacket.

Octavo, viii, 471pp, [1]. Quarter white cloth over red paper-covered boards, title stamped in red on spine, red topstain. Stated “First Published in 1958” on the copyright page. Previous owner’s bookplate on front free endpaper. A near fine example, appears unread.

In the publisher’s dust jacket, $4.95 retail price on front flap, touch of shelf wear, bright illustrations. Tape repair to verso of spine and one strip along the heel of the spine, resulting in some discoloration.

A presentable copy.

Hall’s best-known novel, set in the fictional mining town of Warlock and loosely based on Tombstone, Wyatt Earp, and the events surrounding the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. The book is now regarded as a major revisionist Western and was adapted into the 1959 film starring Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn, and Dorothy Malone.
