Small quarto, [10], 257pp, [1]. Green pictorial cloth, title stamped in dark green and gilt, with color cover label. Copyright page dated 1907. Illustrated with a color frontispiece and numerous photographic plates by the author. A near fine example. (MacLean 276) This title was later revised and republished in 1917 as “Friends in Feathers.”

Stratton-Porter’s early natural-history work presents character studies of native American birds, along with accounts of her fieldwork and bird photography in the Limberlost region of northeastern Indiana.
