Stated “Fifth Printing, August, 1941” on copyright page. In publisher’s dust jacket, shelf wear with dampstain along bottom edge of back panel and spine, small tears along top/bottom edges, residual tape from book jacket cover on interior of spine. Overall a very nice bright copy given the era when this book was published.

Walter Millis (1899-1968) was an editorial writer for the New York Herald Tribune from 1924 to 1954. During his career, he wrote a number of books centered on military themes, including Road to War: America 1914-1917, This is Pearl! The United States and Japan 1941, Arms and Men: A Study of American Military History, and The Martial Spirit: A Study of Our War with Spain.
