Octavo, [eight volumes]. Publisher’s red cloth, title stamped in gilt on the spine. All first impressions, with “First Published” statement from Heinemann. All with red topstain. A few spots of rubbing to cloth on various volumes, all internally clean. All in the publisher’s first issue dust jacket, bright illustrations, retail price clipped in Volume I and II, closed tear with tape repair to verso of Volume III, all near fine examples.

The first two volumes were written by Randolph S. Churchill, with the remaining six volumes completed by Martin Gilbert after Randolph Churchill’s death in 1968. An authoritative eight-volume official life of Winston Churchill, published over more than two decades and extending from Churchill’s birth through his death in 1965.
