Housed in the publisher’s slipcase, title on paper label affixed to spine. Some wear to label on spine, slipcase binding solid. From a limited edition of 1000 copies signed by President Calvin Coolidge, this being number 177. (Martin / Goehlert 8030) Bookplate on front pastedown.

Frederick W. Skiff (1867–1947) was a bibliophile and collector of Americana, specializing in rare books and historical documents. He authored Adventures in Americana (1935), and Landmarks and Literature: An American Travelogue (1937). He founded the Acorn Club in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1899. His extensive collection was sold in 1947 by Butterfield & Butterfield, now Bonham’s Auctions, in San Francisco.
