This copy is the first state binding, with light green-gray boards, black cloth spine, and gold endpapers. Previous ownership note on front free endpaper. Solid text block, wear to heel of the spine, small brown spot along fore-edge, a near fine example. In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, $19.95 retail price, touch of shelf wear to rear panel, price label on back panel from a university bookstore.
This copy is signed on the half-title by John Grisham.
This copy is the first state of The Firm. The second state features the same dark spine, but has navy paper boards in the place of the green-gray seen here. Second state copies also have dull beige endpapers. Due to the popularity of the novel upon its release, a Book Club Edition was released shortly after the first printing, but features “April 1991” on the copyright page and all-black paper boards.
