This novel by Larry McMurtry won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1986. It was adapted into a television miniseries in 1989, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall. The success of Lonesome Dove led to sequels, including Streets of Laredo (1993), Dead Man’s Walk (1995) and Comanche Moon (1997).
