Octavo, [two volumes], ix, [275pp]; xii, [307pp]. Publisher’s olive green buckram cloth, title stamped in gilt on spines, gilt emblem with author’s initials on front covers. Top edge gilt. Rubbing to the cloth of both volumes, some soiling and scratch marks at various points. Previous gift inscription on the front free endpaper of both volumes. Housed in custom brown cloth slipcase. Frontispiece portrait in both volumes, with tissue cover. Lacking the scarce glassine dust jacket. This work is from a limited edition of 375 copies, 350 of which are available for public sale. This is number 289, signed by W.B. Yeats on the limitation page. A very good example, with noted issues.
The signed limitation page of this book was signed by the author well before the publication of this book, being delayed by World War II and the revisions of the author before his death in 1939. (Wade 209 / 210)
