A Hunter’s Wanderings in Africa was F.C. Selous’s first published work, telling the stories of hunting and exploration in his 20s across the little-known regions between South Africa and the Congo Basin. Selous’s time in Africa provided large contributions to the knowledge of the country now known as Zimbabwe. Selous soon turned to conservation upon the realization that elephants were becoming scarce and certain species needed to be protected by law.
