Douglas Adams adapted The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy into a novel following the success of the 1978 BBC radio comedy of the same name. The first novel was developed into a trilogy, with the addition of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe and Life, the Universe and Everything. The series was later expanded to include So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish and the fifth book, Mostly Harmless.
