The International Violence Against Women Act of 2015 was introduced to ensure that United States foreign policy pursued best practices in regard to violence against women and prosecution of the offenders in countries receiving foreign aid. The bill was criticized for imposing Western values on foreign countries. The bill did not pass in 2015, but was reintroduced in 2022.
