Octavo, xii, 324pp; vii, 306pp. Three-quarter blue morocco, matching marbled paper boards, edges, and endpapers. Five raised bands, title in gilt over red morocco label. Stated “Second Edition” on title page of each volume. Solid text blocks, rubbing to corners and edges of spine, sunned spines, faint foxing to leaves. A nice set.
This set differs from the “Extra-Illustrated” Second Edition of the Memoirs of Empress Josephine, also issued by Henry Colburn in 1829. This set is complete in two-volumes, as compared to three in the “Extra-Illustrated” edition.
