Include ads for “Proposals for printing Roscoe’s Life of Lorenzo de Medic.” Publisher’s gray wraps, bound at spine with string, reinforced with pastedown spine. Period ownership notes on title page and wraps. Solid text block, faint foxing to wraps, generally clean. Housed in custom gray cloth clamshell, title in gilt over red morocco label on side panel.

Rep. Thomas Evans (1755-1815) was a member of the Federalist Party, representing Virginia’s 12th Congressional District from 1797-1801. He wrote this Federalist attack piece on President Jefferson using the pseudonym “Tacitus.”
