Octavo, xix, 618pp. Beige cloth binding, top edge gilt. Title printed on spine and author’s facsimile signature on cover. Light soiling to cloth, general wear from handling. Lacking the publisher’s slipcase. From a limited edition of 750 signed copies, this being number 558, signed by Omar N. Bradley on the limitation page. Additional inscription on the title page: “To Marianne and Guntram Weissenberg, hoping to see you both soon in California. Best personal regards. Omar N. Bradley.”

The recipients of this book, Marianne and Dr. Guntram Weissenberg were married for two years in the late 1950s. Marianne McDonald Weissenberg was the daughter of Eugene F. McDonald, the founder of Zenith Radio Corporation. Marianne met General Bradley through her mother, Inez Riddle McDonald Neale, who worked as his private secretary. General Omar Bradley (1893 – 1981) was a decorated army commander during World War II. He commanded the II Corps during the Allied invasion of Sicily, the First United States Army during the invasion of Normandy and ultimately the Twelfth Army Group, which comprised all members of the United States Army serving in Western Europe and stands as the largest United States Army formation in history. After WWII, he served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He became the last general to be promoted to the five-star rank, known as General of the Army.
