Gray cloth, title in gilt on spine. Top edges dyed yellow. All with light shelf wear to panels, solid text blocks. In the publisher’s wood shipping crate, with “Abraham Lincoln / Complete Set / 6 Vols” stamped on the side panel, solid bindings. (Monaghan, 3711)

The War Years were the best-selling volumes of Carl Sandburg’s landmark series on President Abraham Lincoln. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for History for The War Years in 1940.
