James Comer, born in 1972 in Carthage, Tennessee, is the U.S. Representative for Kentucky’s 1st district. He has served in Congress since 2016, later becoming Chair of the House Oversight Committee in 2023. A graduate of Western Kentucky University with a degree in agriculture, Comer previously served six terms in the Kentucky House of Representatives and later as Kentucky’s Commissioner of Agriculture. In Congress, Comer focuses on rural interests, agricultural policy, federal spending, and government oversight, and as Oversight Chair, has led high-profile investigations into federal agencies and executive-branch conduct.
