Marbled endpapers, decorative gilt turn-ins, top edge gilt. Uncut and unopened. Includes the publisher’s original glassine dust jacket, light chipping to spine ends, otherwise fine. Richard E. Byrd (1888-1957) was an American naval officer and polar explorer. He is known for being the first explorer to reach the North Pole and South Pole by air, but the North Pole claim is in dispute.
