Archive from the April 1972 trip by Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter to South America to promote trade.
Includes 35 rigid leaves, all with photographic pastedown and clear mylar cover. Housed in modern black leather folio.
The Trip included stops in five countries, and the following cities: Mexico City, Panama, Bogota, Manaus, Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Bahia Blanca, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Americana, and San Jose. He was accompanied by Rosalynn Carter, Jody Powell, Louis Truman, Bob Roche, and three other aides.
Includes hundreds of photographs from the trip, all personal to Mrs. Gerrity Vollertsen. Each photograph is individually described with pen inscription, some described on verso.

This archive is from the personal collection of Louise Gerrity Vollertsen, who at the time of the trip was serving as Gov. Jimmy Carter’s international-affairs specialist. She was a graduate of Princeton University and received a master’s degree in Russian literature from the University of Pennsylvania.
