Octavo, [two volumes], [1]-464pp; [2]- 467pp. Publisher’s brown cloth, title in gilt on spine. Occasional light foxing, limited to frontispiece portrait and plates. Slight lean to both text blocks, solid binding. Frontispiece portrait with tissue cover in Volume I. Complete with 20 full page plates, two maps (one fold-out), fold-out isothermal chart and hundreds of etchings throughout. Map refers to the Arctic Sea as “Open Sea,” not “Kane’s Sea.”
