Description

The Birthday Program honoring the 76th birthday of former President Harry S. Truman, held on May 10th, 1960 at the Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City.

This program is signed by former president Harry S. Truman. Tri-fold program, printed on heavy cardstock. Includes a song sheet, dinner menu, and 76th birthday celebration illustration. Numerous illustrations, light brown border on each leaf. Signed in black pen on front cover. A unique piece.

The Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City has been visited by every president since Theodore Roosevelt. Harry Truman, the local hero, stayed so often at the hotel it became known as White House West. Truman conducted all official meetings at the hotel, but stayed at his home in Independence, Missouri. During the 1976 Republican National Convention, President Ford and Gov. Ronald Reagan both stayed at the hotel, making pitches to delegates in a last-ditch effort to secure the presidential nomination.
