Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy is a political thriller in the Jack Ryan series. It followed the release of The Cardinal of the Kremlin, published in 1988. Clear and Present Danger was released on August 17, 1989 and quickly became a New York Times bestseller. It was the best selling novel of the 1980’s.
