Doctor’s Invoice for the treatment of slaves in 1856, with details of the care provided and cost for procedures.

Handwritten on blue paper, previously folded, measures 6.5″ x 5.25″. Solid hinges, text legible. The doctor who performed the procedures was named “D.C. Heigbee.” Procedures include the following: Visit boy Wm, prescribed quinine – $2.50; Five visits girl Nelly / pres. Sunday medics – $10.00; services boy Sam: swelled testicle – $10.00; etc. The document notes that payment was received on “Jany. 29th 1857,” for a total bill of $22.50.
