James E. “Jim” Ervin of Albany, Georgia, served as International President of Lions Clubs International for the 1999-2000 term. Ervin was a close friend of fellow Georgian and Lion member, President Jimmy Carter. The two traveled together in 1999 to Mali to launch the Carter Center’s efforts to combat trachoma in the region.
