Four Quartets by T.S. Eliot, the Eleventh Impression, published in 1958. This copy is inscribed by T.S. Eliot for Mrs. Dorothy Dudley Short.

Twelvemo, 44pp, [2]. Tan cloth boards, title stamped in gilt on spine. Stated “Eleventh Impression / March Mcmlviii” on copyright page. Light rubbing to gilt on spine, internally clean. Paper sticker on front endpaper. In the publisher’s dust jacket, retail price on front flap, light wear to front flap hinge, short closed tear along top edge of front panel, a very good example. (Gallup A43b) Previous owner’s blind stamp on title page. Ownership inscription from “D.D. Short 1959” on front free endpaper.

Signed on the title page by the author: “for Dorothy Short / T.S. Eliot.”

Mrs. Dorothy Dudley Field Short (b. 1886 ) was a fellow writer, journalist, musician, and activist. She was the wife of British artist, Norman Dudley Short. Mrs. Short was an active member of the National Council of Women of Great Britain.
