Description

Inscribed to Senator Richard Lugar, the first edition of From Father to Son by Evan Bayh.

Octavo, xxi, 169pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine. No additional printings listed. Solid text block, a fine example. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $24.99 retail price on front flap. Faint shelf wear, lightly bumped corners, a near fine example. Inscribed on the half-title: “To my friend and colleague Dick Lugar – with gratitude and respect for all you’ve done for Indiana and America. Evan Bayh.”

Richard Lugar (1932-2019) was a lifelong politician, serving as a US Senator from Indiana from 1977 to 2013. During his time in Washington, Lugar was Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee. Prior to this, Lugar was the 44th Mayor of Indianapolis, in office from 1968-1976. Lugar’s legacy lives on through The Lugar Center, a nonprofit public policy institution he established in 2013 to continue advocating for global issues he focused on while in office.
