First edition of Hill Country Revisited, signed by Lady Bird Johnson to Jack Valenti. Oblong octavo, xix, [1], 50pp, [1]. Buckram cloth, title printed on spine, illustration on front panel. Tan endpapers. In publishers dust jacket, fine condition, with $10.95 on front flap. Signed by Lady Bird Johnson on the front free end paper with inscription to Jack and Mary Margaret Valenti. Inscription reads: “For Jack and Mary Margaret, Who were a part of our Hill Country year – Affectionately, Lady Bird. Christmas 1977.” An excellent association copy.
Comments: Jack Valenti was a Special Advisor to President Lyndon Johnson from 1964-1966. His wife, Mary Margaret Valenti, was a personal secretary of Senator Johnson from 1956-1962. Jack Valenti was in Dallas in November, 1963 and can be seen in the famous photograph of President Johnson being sworn in aboard Air Force One, next to Mrs. Johnson. Jack Valenti would go on to become the President of the Motion Picture Association of America.
