Mikhail Lomonosov was a Russian writer, scientist, and polymath, who made numerous contributions to science and the study of astronomy. He’s credited with the discovery of the atmosphere of Venus and the law of conservation of mass in chemical reactions. His work in geography led to the hypothesis of continental drift and the existence of Antarctica. This work was translated into German, French and English, with the English work being titled: A Chronological Abridgment of Russian History, 1767.
