This best-selling novel by Richard Llewellyn was the basis of an Academy Award winning movie by the same name. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Supporting Actor. The book itself won the National Book Award for favorite novel of 1940.
