This limited edition of In Dubious Battle is the true first edition, predating the trade edition in the memorable yellow dust jacket. The novel follows a California fruit worker’s strike and the attempts of a labor union to unite and improve conditions for the workers. In Dubious Battle is often overshadowed in memory by Steinbeck’s subsequent two novels, Of Mice and Men (1937) and The Grapes of Wrath (1939).
